The situation

This Centennial homeowner had done his reading and wanted to know which trenchless method fit his pipe. The camera settled it: the cast iron lateral was shedding its interior and developing small cracks along its length, the early stage of a failure that ends in collapse, but there was no collapse yet.

The fix

Intact pipe means lining is an option, and here it could be done with no excavation at all. The technician shot the liner from a cleanout inside the house all the way to the city main, roughly 47 feet, and let it cure for several hours. A closing camera pass showed a smooth, jointless new pipe where the flaking iron had been.
