55 ft of root-cracked cast iron sewer replaced trenchlessly at a 70-year-old Denver home

The situation

The homeowners had bought an older Denver house knowing the plumbing would need attention eventually. A leak under the kitchen sink turned out to be the least of it: the drain line and the sewer beyond it were original cast iron, and the camera showed heavy root intrusion and cracking along the run to the street.

The fix

Cast iron of that age corrodes from the inside and there is no repairing it in place, but replacing it no longer means a trench.
